A Clinician at an individual level impacts the life of a patient,
A Teacher through his students impacts the lives of hundreds of patients,
A Researcher through his quality ground-breaking research impacts the lives of Millions!
The central dogma of being a ‘Good Doctor’ by being an expert clinician, is now evolving to be a ‘multi-dimensional’ new dogma of having a T-shaped personality: the ability to be an expert in one field accompanied with an ability to work in multiple factions outside one's core field. The three domains of being a ‘Good Doctor’ are to be an astute clinician, a passionate teacher and a distinguished researcher; in addition to being a good human being. On that note, medical education needs to evolve in terms of the content, the deliverance, and the impartment of skills that will promote innovative and evidence-based thinking, skill-based learning among medical students and budding young doctors. Today's well-trained students will form the backbone of the future of a progressive nation.
The Global Association Indian Medical Students (GAIMS) was established in the year 2020. It was established with a vision to be a think tank for issues pertaining to medical education and to provide efficient education to all medical students to reach their unidentified potential, by working with government, private deemed, autonomous medical institutions and colleges, academicians and leaders. Within a year since its inception, keeping in mind the aim to encourage young medical students and doctors to publish their research works, GAIMS envisioned to have a journal of its own.
Thus, The Global Journal of Medical Students (GJMS) was born. The GJMS will be a tri-annually published open-access, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, online biomedical global journal. It welcomes electronic submissions and with a fast-track peer review it aims for a rapid publication. The GJMS not only covers original research works in clinical, healthcare and biomedical research of all disciplines in medicine; but also welcomes articles related to medical education and medical ethics. The articles will be available in the “free full-text” format at the journal website (www.thegjms.org). The journal envisions achieving high standards in research impact, indexing, citations and quality author-editor interactions. The editorial board of the first volume hopes the best of research will get published in the GJMS in the years to come!
